| South Marengo County Fire & Rescue Squad |
| organization in the southern portion of Marengo County. The people started talking and in September of 1975 the first organizational meeting of the South Marengo County Rescue Squad was the result. (We have since updated the name to better represent us to South Marengo County Fire and Rescue Squad) Above is one of the first pictures of members of our department together. Since that time we have served the residents of the southern portion of Marengo County with medical, fire, and rescue services. We have increased and decreased our services and equipment based on the number of volunteers we had, the volume and location of calls in different areas and in relation to the development of new departments in our area. Currently, we have major equipment (vehicles) in three different locations but we have smaller, more portable equipment (radios, oxygen systems, medic bags, etc.) and supplies located in several other locations across In the fall of 1975 a few people saw a need for some kind of an emergency service our coverage area. We hope by spreading this equipment out into the community we will benefit our resident and visitors by getting the necessary supplies to themwe will benefit our resident and visitors by getting the necessary supplies to them |
