Grants

Our department as made every effort to find funding from outside sources to help us
support our department.  Below is a list of grants we have won over the last few
years.

2003        Assistance to Fire Fighters Grant - FEMA/DHS - Our department was awarded a
grant totaling $ 54,900 which we used to purchase turn out gear, SCBA's, training videos,
and a positive pressure fan.

2004        Assistance to Fire Fighters Grant - FEMA/DHS - Our department was awarded a
portable water tank and a mobile breathing air system.

2004        4th Quarter First Responder Institute GSK/Tums Grant in Aid Program- Our
department was awarded a grant totaling $3,200 (50% match) that we used to purchase
electrical generators and emergency scene lighting that will help us replace some
equipment damaged during Hurricane Ivan in 2004.

August 2006        We were notified that our department had won the Hurricane Ivan
Recovery Grant issued by the Alabama Forestry Commission for $1,000 to match our $200
to total $1,200.  We were able to purchase a new chain saw and some tools used in
fighting wildland fires.

2006        We were able to secure a grant from the Alabama Fire Marshall's office for
close to $900.  This grant was earmarked for a new computer to allow us to continue to
report our incident calls to the state and federal databases.  By reporting these incidents
to the national database this means fire loss, accidents, and other incidents go into the
national statistics along with major cities around the nation.  Therefore when national
statistics are given incidents right here in your community are included in those numbers.

December 2006        We were notified that we had won $4,000 from the Georgia Pacific
Bucket Brigade.  This grant money was used to purchase new fire, rescue, and safety
equipment.

February 2010         Assistance to Firefighters Grant - FEMA/DHS Our department was
awarded about $71,000 for emergency equipment. We purchased handheld and vehicle
mounted radios, a thermal imaging camera, six more self contained breathing apparatus,
a high pressure air compressor to refill breathing bottles, fire fighting hose, foam, a video
projector, highway safety vest, vehicle mounted scene lights, and additional flashlights.

We are awaiting word on another Assistance to Firefighters Grant that would help us
purchase a new tanker truck.
